SPRING EP

Welcome to the web release of our Spring EP! Just right-click the link there and choose "download" or "save" to download.

We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed putting it together! And if you feel badly about getting it for free... well, too bad.

FLUNG

Spring Fling has come and gone, and LORI AND ANDY'S 10TH AVENUE SUPERGROUP melted a few faces off of fellow Tufts students!! We even got our hands on a fan video of "Hop On My Train". Watch for Jeremy Strauss's fist pumping action.

Spring. Fling.

The Battle of the Bands has come and gone, and LORI AND ANDY'S 10TH AVENUE SUPERGROUP has been selected to play SPRING FLING 2010!!

We want to give a huge shout-out to the other bands that played the show--you guys were all KILLIN' IT.

And another, equally huge shout-out to everyone who came to support us! We wouldn't have gotten far without you cheering us on.

Many thanks to Gigi Rodriguez for filming our set--the clips are on our Vimeo page if you want to check 'em out! (Just click "Vimeo" on one of those videos down there.)

See you on the President's Lawn on 5/1/10!

La Batalla de los Bands

THIS JUST IN!

Lori and Andy's 10th Avenue Supergroup will be playing Tufts' Battle of the Bands! The winner plays Spring Fling alongside Drake and OK Go. Not a bad deal.

So here's what we've been up to: recording, mixing, writing parts for backup singers, and writing about all of the above for our Communications/Media Studies project.

Here's what we're doing in the near future: talking about our live show (which includes discussing wardrobe, coordinated backup singer dance moves, and how many mics we can use without causing a university-wide blackout), more recording and mixing, rehearsing with our 9-PERSON BAND, and some promotional stuff (here's a hint: you are being promoted to RIGHT NOW, omg).

First Rehearsal with Band!!

Wow, a REAL band!!! That's Caleb Sweet on the left, Zach Camara on drums, and the guy you can't see because he's not there is Jeremy Strauss, who's doing some synth stuff for us but was not present at that particular rehearsal. We've had four or five rehearsals and officially have all of our songs READY TO GO. Which is a good thing, because we're doing our first batch of recording (bass and drums) Sunday, March 7. Wow.

I'm really, really excited about how everything sounds. Seeing the songs come together with musicians of this caliber has been very cool and very humbling as well. And having everyone's input on song structure, arrangements, and even lyrics has been incredibly productive.

And, added bonus: we're now putting all our videos on Vimeo because the Blogger video thingy sucks with a capital S. So check 'em all out! They look and sound much better.

Rehearsal 4

Our first rehearsal back from winter break was trés productif, which of course means "very productive" in Chinese. We worked out "Hop On My Train" (see below) and started planning for our next rehearsal--with a REAL BAND! Maybe now we can come up with an official name. Right now, it's still "Lori and Andy Write Some Music Together as a Musical Entity," which is simply too long and doesn't even make for a good acronym.

My goodness, another one?!?

Hop. On. My. Train. from Lori and Andy on Vimeo.

Here it is, Demo #3: "Hop On My Train!" Wrote this song in Spain with Mr. Jacob G. Stern. It's gone through a few iterations since it first sprang out of my head outside of the train station at la Universidad de Autonomá--Andy helped a lot with the structure of the song (my apologies for the mumbled sections, I'm still working the lyrics out).

Incidentally, trains in Spain stay mainly on the plain. No, really, they do.
